What's Happening at the FRHM

Natural Dye Workshop
9:30 am – 4:00 pm
Instructor Ric Rao, a volunteer at the Museum, will lead a Natural Dye Workshop, featuring seven natural dyes.

Visitors to the Museum during the workshop are welcome to watch the process and ask questions. The natural dyes are:

Black Walnuts -- Juglans nigra
Cochineal -- Dactylopius coccus
Cosmos, Yellow and Orange -- Cosmos Sulphureus
Cota or Navajo Tea -- Thelesperma sp.
Hibiscus -- Hibiscus Moscheutos
Indigo -- Indigofera tinctoria
Osage Orange -- Maclura Pomifera

Many of these dyes are grown in Ric's garden or harvested locally. The cost to participate is $75.
