Museum has busy week aheadMay 14, 2009 The New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum is having a busy week with a special lecture, a plant and tree sale, and the traditional Blessing of the Fields event. The museum's lecture series continues May 14 at 7 p.m. with a special presentation called "The Sephardic Legacy in New Mexico: A History of the Crypto-Jews." Former State of New Mexico Historian Stanley Hordes will focus his talk on the history of the crypto-Jews of New Mexico, from their origins in the forced conversions of the Spanish Inquisition in the 14th and 15th centuries, to the recent past. Admission is a suggested donation of $2. The museum will once again celebrate the Blessing of the Fields at 10 a.m. on May 15. The museum continues this annual tradition with a colorful, music-filled procession around the campus, led by Bishop Ricardo Ramirez and children from Holy Cross Schools. After the procession, enjoy ballet folklorico dancing in our amphitheater, and our tree and plant sale at the Greenhouse. The Admission for the procession only is free. The museum's plant and tree sale is taking place May 14-17 at the new. The sale will feature shade trees, shrubs, herbs, and assorted flowers.
