New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs
Created in 1978 by the New Mexico Legislature, the Department of Cultural Affairs represents New Mexico’s dedication to preserving and celebrating the cultural integrity and diversity of our state. National History Day
Join secondary classrooms from throughout southern New Mexico as they do historical research and compete at regional, state and national contests for prizes and scholarships. This is a collaborative effort between the Museum, the New Mexico Humanities Council, and the New Mexico State University History Department and Library.
Visit Las Cruces
Museum staff works Visit Las Cruces, the tourism ambassador program from the City of Las Cruces, to promote the area as a destination for tour groups and visitors from all over the world. Visit Las Cruces always suggests the Museum as place to visit while in Las Cruces.
NMSU Cooperative Extension Service
Over 1,000 local 4th graders visit the Museum for AgXplorer, an event which exposes students to many different aspects of agriculture. The Museum often hosts the event and provides assistance to the NMSU Cooperative Extension Service staff and volunteers. NMSU Cooperative Extension Service also works with the Museum at other events and venues including the Southern New Mexico State Fair.
Doña Ana County 4-H
Doña Ana County 4-H, a part of New Mexico 4-H and the National 4-H youth development organization, empowers young people with the skills and confidence to become resilient, adaptable, and prepared for work and life. The Museum proudly partners with Doña Ana County 4-H by featuring a permanent display case that highlights the achievements of local 4-H club members, updated monthly to showcase new accomplishments. Additionally, the Museum hosts the county’s 4-H Achievement Day projects and Cloverbud Day activities in late July and early August. These events are part of the indoor exhibits for the Doña Ana County Fair, during which several hundred youth projects are displayed throughout the Museum’s lobby and hallways.
