Holiday Crafts for Kids:
December 2, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Children are invited to come make a holiday craft to take home. The craft activity is free, but regular Museum admission is required for all family members: $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens, $3 for children 4 to 17, and free admission for children 3 and under.

Discovery Afternoon:
Farm in a Glove
December 13, 1-3 p.m.

How do seeds germinate? How do plants differ? Come explore these and other questions and plant a mini-farm you can take home. These Wednesday afternoon classes were developed with home school students and their parents in mind, but are open to all children. Recommended for ages 5 to 10. The fee is $3 per child/parent. Space is limited, so reserve your spot by calling LuAnn Kilday at 575-522-4100.

New exhibit:
Connie Garcia: A Lifetime of Art
Opening reception: December 14, 5-7 p.m.

Las Cruces artist Connie June Garcia (1950-2017) had a creative flair and a love of art that is evident in her work. She expressed her creativity through tile, foil, drawing, contemporary painting, cards, and much more. Connie began creating her artwork in the 1970s, starting with batik art, which she sold at art shows throughout the U.S. Members of Connie’s family will be at the opening reception, which is 5-7 p.m. on December 14. Admission to the reception is free and there will be refreshments. The show will be in the Museum’s Arts Corridor through April 1, 2018.

Heritage Cooking:
Campfire Christmas Cookies
December 23, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A campfire might seem like an unlikely place to make Christmas cookies, but let’s do it. Visitors can participate in the age-old art of making cookies using a vintage Pizzelle iron from the 1800s. We’ll use traditional cookie cutters, and have all the fixins and decorations ready. Bring your appetite and enjoy a sweet taste of history. Regular Museum admission is required to participate in this special program ($5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens, and $3 for children 5-17).
